Stevie Nicks Casts Her Spell On Nashville
Nashville was enchanted last night by the reigning Queen of Rock and Roll; Stevie Nicks.
Nicks was in town promoting her album 24 Karat Gold:Songs From The Vault. The album, Stevie told her concert-goers, had been recorded in our very own Music City almost 2 years ago when she was on a short break from a 220 date Fleetwood Mac tour.
When Stevie asked her friend and fellow legendary musician Dave Stewart where she could go to make a quality record within the 2 month break she had between tour dates he told her to go to Nashville, because Nashville players are some of the most organized and driven musicians in the business. And not only had Stevie recorded her latest album within our city limits, but so had her openers; The Pretenders! Lead singer Chrissie Hynde told the crowd they had just completed their latest album here as well, with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. Seems that Nashville is becoming the hot spot for more than just country these days!
It was an unforgettable evening. Nicks not only played her hits and crowd favorites, but a lot of what she decreed were “new, old songs”-some of these songs had been written 40 years ago and had never seen the light of day until now!
Let that be an inspiration to all of our songwriters out there, NEVER stop writing because you never know when something you’ve put to paper will be able to come back into your creative life in a major way. Take it from one of the most successful writers of all time; don’t give up-keep writing!
